Effects of Coriolis Perturbation on Normal-Parity Rotational Bands of Odd-Mass Nuclei
The puzzling behavior of the Ml transitions in a normal-parity band of 163Dy observed recently is studied in the framework of the particle· rotor model. Characteristic features of the Ml transitions as well as the energy spectrum are well reproduced by the present calculation. We have found that the Corio lis interaction gives rise to an appreciable amount of rotation alignment. A remarkable po...
متن کاملFission Cross - Section Measurements of the Odd - Odd Isotopes 232 Pa , 238 Np , and 236 Np
Transmutation of actinide waste into fission products could be enhanced by using resonance fISsion of odd-odd target materials; those of interest are mpa, 238Np, and u2Am. Fission cross-section . measurements of two of these short-lived materials were performed at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Samples were produced by the (d,2n) reaction in the Los Alamos Ion Beam Facility followed by fast ra...
متن کاملA description of odd mass W-isotopes in the Interacting
The negative and positive parity low-spin states of the even-odd Tungsten isotopes, 183,185,187W are studied in the frame work of the Interacting Boson-Fermion Approximation (IBFA) model. The fermion that is coupled to the system of bosons is taken to be in the negative parity 2f7/2, 2f5/2, 3p3/2, 3p1/2 and in the positive parity 1i13/2 single-particle orbits. The calculated energies of low-spi...
متن کاملOblate-prolate transition in odd-mass light mercury isotopes
Anomalous isotope shifts in the chain of light Hg isotopes are investigated by using the Hartree-FockBogoliubov method with the Skyrme SIII, SkI3 and SLy4 forces. The sharp increase in the mean-square radius of the odd mass Hg isotopes is well explained in terms of the transition from an oblate to a prolate shape in the ground state of these isotopes. We discuss the polarization energy of time-...
متن کاملSkyrme Mean-Field Study of Rotational Bands in Transfermium Isotopes
Self-consistent mean field calculations with the SLy4 interaction and a densitydependent pairing force are presented for nuclei in the Nobelium mass region. Predicted quasi-particle spectra are compared with experiment for the heaviest known odd N and odd Z nuclei. Spectra and rotational bands are presented for nuclei around 252,4No for which experiments are either planned or already running.
